Question To Ask Before You Choose An Attorney For Your Lawsuit

“Clients and potential clients come to me and say, “Hey, I got sued,” and they’ve got to make a decision on how hard to fight the lawsuit. Every defendant, when they get sued, I think, the first thing they think is, “I wanna crush the other guy. I wanna kill him. I wanna teach him a lesson. They’re going to go crawling away and be sorry they ever got in the same courtroom with me.” Unfortunately, I think lawyers sometimes make more money than they need to because they prey upon that a little bit. It’s only later on in the case, after the lawyer’s drained the client’s litigation money, that people start thinking, “Hmm, maybe settlement would have been a good idea.”
I know that emotions get high when you’re sued, but be sure you don’t let an attorney take advantage of that. Make sure you form a plan. The first thing to do maybe is to ask the lawyer, why he’s the right person for the job? Has he done this kind of thing before? Does he have former client references? Has he been around for a while? More importantly, does he have a big picture strategy? He should be able to explain to you what the plan is on this case, why you’re going to win. If he can’t tell it to you, he’s certainly not going to be able to tell it to the jury. And he should be able to tell you what your weaknesses are. The other side certainly is going to point them out, you might as well know what they are early in the case. So ask your lawyer to explain to you what the weaknesses are, and what your responses are going to be.
The important thing, when you’re defending a lawsuit is to be logical and realistic to find an Arizona lawyer who has experience and can make a plan that’s going to get you to where you need to be, and then to follow through on that plan.”
